- Work is fundamental to our lives. It means so much more than a paycheck—it offers purpose and the opportunity to lead an independent, self-directed life for all people, including people with disabilities.
People with disabilities have the skills to pursue meaningful careers and play an important role in America’s educational and economic success. In fact, experience with disability can offer a competitive edge when it comes to work. If you are a person with a disability, only you can define your own limitations. High expectations are essential to success. Organizations exist that can help you seek employment, identify the tools you need to be productive on the job, and understand your right to be evaluated on your ability, not disability. Because after all, at work it’s what people can do that matters.

- I can do some mechanical clock repair and would love to expand my knowledge in this field by working in a job where I could get paid. This was my hobbie for many years. For most of my life I installed floors, which I am no longer able to do.

- I was the primary fiscal person in a $7 M healthcare-oriented non-profit agency. Implemented Traverse Financial system/database in 2008. Arranged first standalone Line of Credit for 3 year old Non-profit agency in 2006. Maintain accounting records, develop budgets. Now between jobs.

- I am opening a nonprofit for Veterans who are down on their luck and trying to find funds for housing. Starting small and working God's will. Any ideas for our new goals would be looked at. Have my home and trying to pay back Veterans for their service. Still working on a business plan and budget to move forward.
