Purpose
The "What can YOU do?" Video Contest ("the Contest") is an initiative of the Campaign for Disability Employment ("CDE"), a program funded by the U.S. Department of Labor's Office of Disability Employment Policy ("ODEP"). The Contest intends to recognize film makers who produce creative videos that remind everyone that at work, it's what people CAN do that matters. The goal of the contest is to encourage the production of videos that reflect the diversity of skills people with disabilities offer, challenge common misconceptions about disability employment, and also provide an opportunity for employers to share their inclusive employment programs and practices.
Judging, Prizes & Notification
All eligible submissions will be judged by an internal panel. Judging will be based on originality, content, reflection of campaign themes and categories, production value, impact, and accessibility. The CDE will recognize videos in up to three categories.
The public will vote on People's Choice finalists, which will be announced and posted to the CDE Web site.
Top videos will be featured on the Campaign for Disability Employment Web site, WhatCanYouDo YouTube channel, and screened at national events. One video in each category will be recognized with a "What can YOU do?" (WCYD) Award. The WCYD Award recognizes videos that:
- Demonstrate excellence in reflecting the diversity of skills people with disabilities offer and promoting positive change by illustrating that at work, it's what people CAN do that matters.
- Demonstrate excellence in illustrating the importance of developing and reaching employment goals, or mentoring youth to do so.
- Demonstrate excellence in outstanding leadership in the employment of people with disabilities, and fostering a work culture welcoming of the talents of all individuals.
