The ADA at 30

Increasing Access and Opportunity

This year marks 30 years since a major milestone in our nation’s history—the signing of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).

Since its passage in 1990, this landmark legislation has helped increase access and opportunity for people with disabilities in our nation’s workplaces and communities. The CDE is delighted to be a part of the ADA30 observance, which will take place throughout 2020.

Many of the events and activities focused on the ADA’s impact on employment are being led by the U.S. Department of Labor’s (DOL) Office of Disability Employment Policy, including the 75th annual National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM) observance in October.

We hope you will join us in marking this important anniversary—and continuing our efforts to spread the message that “at work, it’s what people CAN do that matters.”
